This site was created to be able to coordinate and cooperate with people, organizations and potential hosts to help with growing our local mesh in an effective efficient way.
Coordination is key. We don't want Routers/Repeaters eating hops unnecessarily. We don't want to waste resources such as time, equipment, or effort in placing nodes that will not be the best benefit for everyone.
Sites - Choose the best sites to increase everyone's connection quality and reliability.
Coverage - even a great site may not be the best spot for the next equipment deployment if it doesn't expand or provide new coverage. The second or third choice on the list may provide a better improvement to coverage.
Hosts - It will be important to have good outreach to individuals or organizations that are willing to host a node to provide the best coverage. By working together we can network and make the best of our area for all.
All of this will require communication between those that want to help provide a better mesh for the community.
What is this about? This is about meshtastic - an open source, off-grid, decentralized, mesh network built to run on affordable, low-power devices. Devices are cheap, no licensing is required, and allow you to communicate with others in your area completely off grid by automatically creating a small network in your own area with other similar devices. The official page has much more information.
